Winterizing Small Water Features

Small water features ad life to your outdoor space with lively movement and sound. We want to help you keep your fountains and spitters functioning and looking beautiful for years to come. Winter care is very important and should only take a few easy steps.

Firstly- Spitters, weather installed in your pond or in a freestanding unit, such as an AquaBasin, need to be disconnected for the season. To remove unplug the pump. Pull the pump out and disconnect the hose going into the back of the spitter, wash and store in a dry place that wont freeze. Bronze and stone spitters can remain outside and freeze but it is a good idea to take in resin or plastic spiters.

Secondly- Fountains need to be turned off and the pump pulled out washed and stored in a freeze free location. Bubbling urns and other ceramic pieces need to be stored in a dry place. If your fountain is stone or bronze leave it out just pull out the pump and make sure no water is anywhere inside. Most fountains are installed on an AquaBasin and these units can remain in the ground. Aquascape’s Patio Ponds have to be disassembled completely.
